Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered in the port of Oakland, California, to prevent an Israeli cargo ship from unloading its cargo.
The “BLOCK THE BOAT” group said – in a series of tweets – that about a thousand people participated in the demonstration, during which Palestinian flags were raised, and banners on some of them read “Free Palestine”.
She added that the continuous protests forced the Israeli ship coming from Asia to move away from the port, and considered this a victory for her, noting that she had received support from a number of port workers.
The group described the move as a clear message that profiteering from Israel’s apartheid regime is not welcome in the Auckland Bay area.

In parallel, voices rose in the US Congress criticizing the war on Gaza, as about 140 Democrats demanded pressure on the Israeli government to stop it, while others put forward a draft resolution to block sales of munitions destined for Tel Aviv, worth $735 million.
