Social media platforms were in a state of anger after an Uber driver revolted against a child with autism, kicked him out of his car, and asked him not to use the app again.
The story began when the victim’s child’s sister published what happened with her brother, and launched the hashtag “Uber is not safe,” a hashtag that activists interacted with strongly, and demanded that the company hold the driver accountable, and enact laws to prevent the recurrence of this incident; But others considered these demands exaggerated.
Among the tweets that were monitored by the eighth bulletin, “Nasratkoum” on 06/13/2021, was a tweet by activist Doaa Yassin, in which she said, “My son and I happened to be with me. He is also a child with autism. We are the parents of the heroes of autism. Or far away.. God suffices us, and He is the best agent, and enough is enough. They are always surrounded by blame or bullying.”
While Ahmed Abdullah called for the driver to be held accountable, he tweeted, “If this driver is not held accountable by the Uber company, the solution is very easy to boycott Uber so that it can be passed on to others.”
But Muhammad Hosni had a different opinion, and said, “I see that the driver is not wrong or necessary.. He may be ignorant and exposed, but he is not mistaken, meaning that he has one with autism and because the driver walked in an unfamiliar way .. to go the distance and take an extra fare. The injured man became intolerant and became violent, and the world and the driver thought he would make a quarrel and a problem with him, so he expelled him and said, “You will not ride with us again, we are not without problems. This is my personal interpretation of the story.
As for Gigi Ahmed, she said, “I refuse to judge people from one side… She told the story. Did anyone know the driver? He said what or what happened? It is not possible for us to know that our Lord is enough for us from the evil of injustice.”
