Today, Saturday, Israeli settlers attacked the residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem and those in solidarity with them by spraying pepper gas on them, hours after the occupation army suppressed a Palestinian march in the Bab Al-Amoud area leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Jerusalemite activist Mona Al-Kurd – one of the families threatened with displacement in favor of the settlers in the neighborhood – said through her account on Instagram that a number of settlers attacked the residents of the neighborhood and those in solidarity with them by spraying pepper gas on them.
Simultaneously, the occupation forces forcibly emptied the neighborhood of solidarity activists, prevented its residents from gathering in its squares, and prevented ambulance crews and journalists from being present in it.
Prior to that, the Israeli occupation forces suppressed Palestinians in the same area who tried to demonstrate against settlers’ abuse of the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.
Eyewitnesses reported that the occupation forces attacked the demonstrators with batons and sound bombs, and the forces emptied the Bab al-Amoud area of Palestinians who tried to demonstrate peacefully.
And last Tuesday, thousands of Israeli settlers set out from West Jerusalem towards Bab al-Amud, one of the gates of the Old City in East Jerusalem, where they performed a provocative “flags dance” and chanted slogans and chants in Hebrew.
According to eyewitnesses, settlers shouted slogans, including “Death to the Arabs,” in addition to others insulting to the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, before leaving Bab al-Amud towards the Al-Buraq Wall.
