Unidentified gunmen assassinated the Director of Rusafa Intelligence and the Assistant Director of Monitoring in the Iraqi Intelligence Service, Colonel Nibras Farman Shaaban, east of Baghdad on Monday.
And the Iraqi intelligence service said – in an official statement – that gunmen on board a pickup truck exchanged fire with the officer, who was shot several times, killing him in Al-Baladiyat area, east of Baghdad.
A security source stated that Farman was hit by several bullets in separate parts of the body, and died minutes after the attack.
He explained that the gunmen fled to an unknown destination, while a security force from the army and police arrived at the scene and opened an urgent investigation to find out its circumstances. No one has claimed responsibility for the accident.
Baghdad includes two parts: Rusafa, located east of the capital, and Karkh, west of the capital.
