Built by Oxford-based Caristo Diagnostics, the system detects signs of inflammation in the organ’s artery walls that supply it with blood and oxygen.
This ability is beyond the scope of a standard CT scan, which only looks for blockages and plaque buildup, and is designed to act as an “early warning system” for determining when a person’s heart is showing signs of damage but the arteries are still working without serious obstructions.
