The Secretary-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated, in a press conference held today in Geneva, that the decline in the number of injuries in the world is the longest period of decline in injuries since the start of the pandemic about a year and a half ago, according to what was reported by Euronews.
Ghebreyesus expressed his satisfaction with the general decrease in the number of new infections with the virus.
On the other hand, the WHO official said that deaths in general did not decline at the same speed, and only decreased slightly last week compared to the number of injuries.
According to the latest statistics based on the reports of the health authorities in the countries of the world, the virus has infected more than 176 million and 171 thousand since the outbreak of the pandemic, and the disease has caused the death of more than 3 million and 813 thousand.

On the other hand, Ghebreyesus stated that the virus is transmitted faster than the distribution of vaccines globally, calling on political leaders to commit to immunizing at least 70% of the world’s population before the G7 leaders’ meeting next year.
In France, today, Tuesday, the authorities began vaccinating adolescents, aged 12 to 17, with the aim of increasing the collective immunity of the French in order to confront Covid-19, and the threat of new mutated versions such as Delta.
It will be possible to vaccinate the mentioned age group, provided that it is done voluntarily and with the consent of the parents and in the presence of one of them.
And the health authorities in France previously offered the vaccine against the virus to the age of 18 or 16, if some conditions were met by the candidate, or he was in contact with a person who is highly susceptible to infection with the virus.
In Israel, the authorities decided today to abolish the obligatory wearing of masks in closed places due to the decline in HIV infections, and students went to school, and adults to work without masks for the first time in more than a year. Wearing masks in open spaces has become not mandatory in Israel since last April.
About 55 percent of Israelis received the full vaccination dose against the disease, a percentage that did not change to a large extent after expanding the vaccination scope this month to include the age group between 12 and 15 years.
Data from the Ministry of Health revealed that Israel did not record any deaths from the virus this month, or recorded one death per day.
