The hashtag #Delete_your enemy began to top the various social media pages, coinciding with the calls of Palestinian and Arab activists to withdraw from following the various Israeli pages, which they described as beautifying the image of the occupation.
Multiple goals the activists wanted by tweeting this hashtag, not only interacting with it, but also taking practical and executive steps, not following the Israeli pages, unliking them, and even reporting them, as various designs and videos appeared under this hashtag.
Algorithms increase access
Moaz Hamed, a Palestinian journalist residing in Europe and one of the campaign participants, believes that the great interaction should be used to support the Palestinian cause recently, especially from influencers on social media platforms who supported the Palestinians and demonstrated the reality of the occupation in their various ways, most notably the live broadcast.
Hamed says – to Al Jazeera Net – that the idea started between activists and journalists after monitoring what he called the “insolence” of these Israeli pages, which provoke Arabs in particular; To push them to insult and express their disapproval of what is being asked. But the algorithms of the communication pages lead – in the end – to the rapid spread of these pages, and to show them in front of anyone because of the many comments.
Hamed considers that these pages are lying and knowing that they are doing this, for example, they suggest that the Mansaf eater is not Jordanian, which causes the followers to comment negatively, and this leads to the interaction opposed to this proposition, and therefore the idea was not to interact with these pages at all, until there is no Her appearance in front of the Palestinian or Arab observer.
The idea will continue – according to Hamed – with different tools, through activists around the world who will seek to continue the campaign, and publish some designs to inform the Arab public about the amount of money paid by the occupation to beautify its image, and the danger of interacting with these pages.
Don’t follow and unlike
Iyad Al-Rifai, director of the “Echo Social” center, which specializes in communication pages, says that the main goal of this campaign and tweeting on the hashtag #Delete_your enemy is not to comment and interact with these pages, because any activity towards them means promoting them, even if it is by not liking or attacking the posts. Because the mere interaction, whether positive or negative, will make these pages more popular, especially for the friends of the interacting person, so disliking or not following was the main solution.
In addition, the content provided by these pages is very dangerous, by focusing on the humanitarian issues of the Palestinians in particular, which prompts many of them to interact with it because it meets their daily needs of traffic and obtaining work permits, among others.
Al-Rifai believes – in his speech to Al Jazeera Net – that the Israeli pages – which follow the occupation in general – also promote applications or links that may cause the hacking of followers’ accounts, in addition to the fact that the discourse followed by these pages beautifies the image of the occupation, and significantly affects the Palestinian awareness. And the Arab, which was evident through the emergence of these pages in the Arab-Israeli normalization and its promotion.
Al-Rifai says that the occupation is about to spend about a billion dollars on social media platforms, because of their important impact in shaping awareness among young people, and the occupation is trying to exploit its various pages to strike the Palestinian national and social fabric first, and the Arab in general.
The observer of the communication pages notes – in general – that the Israeli occupation does not depend only on the regular publication; Rather, it pays huge sums of money in order to target the largest possible category of the Palestinian and Arab public.
Many activists interacted with the hashtag #DeleteYour Enemy. Activist Mona Hawa believes that the occupation – through the communication pages – seeks to deliver a speech that she described as poisonous by interacting with its pages, even if it was negative, so it was necessary not to follow and unfollow these pages, addressing her followers, “Now now .. delete your enemy.”
Palestinian activist Radwan Al-Akhras wrote that the Arabs should get out of all the pages of the occupation, because even negative interaction increases their chances of spreading, they use provocation, spreading platitudes and clowning to push you to interact, so it was necessary to ignore their absurdities.
