Inter-Parliamentary Union President Duarte Pacheco said that all settlements on the occupied Palestinian territories should be condemned.
Pacheco added – in a statement after his meeting in Geneva with the Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim, representing the Arab parliaments – that settlement would undermine opportunities for dialogue to create lasting peace in the region. For his part, Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim expressed his appreciation to the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Duarte Pacheco; For calling on the Middle East Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to conduct a fact-finding mission in the Palestinian territories
He also expressed his thanks and gratitude for Pacheco’s intention to go to the Palestinian territories, to meet with Palestinian officials and visit the Gaza Strip.
Al-Ghanim added that the expected visit “will not be in comfortable rooms, but will be your visit to people in the street; to see the largest prison in the world, the Gaza Strip, and to see the situation of the innocent Palestinians imprisoned in Gaza, as well as the practices of the racist regime, including closing the crossings to Egypt, and its perpetration of all kinds of violations of laws International”.
