Germany coach Joachim Loew refused to blame his player Mats Hummels for the team’s 1-0 defeat to France on Tuesday, at the opening of their European Championship campaign (Euro 2020).
The French team won with a single goal scored by Hummels by mistake against his country in the 20th minute, and the match saw that two goals for Paul Pogba and Karim Benzema, the two stars of the French team, were not counted for offside.
Love said after the match that it was a difficult match characterized by club, but it was decided by an own goal.
He added that he should not blame Hummels, stressing that what happened was “bad luck”.
The German team and its coach Joachim Loew are facing pressure before the second match scheduled for next Saturday against the defending champion Portugal, who started his campaign in the tournament yesterday by defeating Hungary by three clean points.
