The head of the Jerusalem Committee Against Judaization, Nasser Al-Hadmi, said that the flags march is an attempt by the Israeli occupation to recover part of its dignity and prestige that it lost in the last confrontation and to review its sovereignty over the city of Jerusalem.
Al-Hadmi added in an interview with Al-Jazeera Mubasher, “What has been happening since the beginning of last year until this day falls within the framework of the ongoing Judaization of the city of Jerusalem.”
He said, “The occupation, after recognizing Jerusalem as the capital by the American administration, wanted to demonstrate its sovereignty over the holy city, so we saw it creating certain occasions with the aim of displaying this sovereignty, including the march of the flags.”
He
Al-Hadmi said, “What is striking is that the occupation brought thousands of soldiers to secure the march, and I see in this a clear symbolism that the occupation does not control what he calls its eternal capital, and it cannot complete the dream that it started with its view of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem.”
He added, “The occupation’s keenness to hold this march means that it wants to recover part of its dignity and prestige that it lost in the last confrontation, and wants to break the thorns of the Jerusalemites and demonstrate its sovereignty over the city.”
He continued, “But things have differed in the recent period with regard to the Jerusalemites’ dealing with the occupation authority, as they no longer fear the soldiers, and this predicts that the occupation will move from one failure to another, especially with regard to the march of the flags.”
war crime
In response to a question, do the settlers have the right to go to Al-Aqsa, Al-Hadmi said, “The settlers have no right to be on the land of Palestine, nor to roam in the city of Jerusalem, nor to come from all parts of the earth to live in our place, for they are usurpers, thieves, and criminals.”
He added, “This is a criminal march, which is considered a war crime against the Palestinian people and affects the feelings of the Palestinians, and actually harms them, as roads and streets will be closed, and settlers will attack shops and citizens, stop public transportation, prevent Palestinians from roaming in the city, and prevent access to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque via roads.” This is an attack on our rights, freedom and right to move.”
“Their presence is illegal according to international law, which considers Jerusalem an occupied city and its people are under occupation, and it is not permissible to expel them from their land and bring other peoples to live with them,” he added.
He concluded his speech by saying, “All this is being done by the occupation authorities and by a criminal government that wants to implement its Judaization policy towards the city of Jerusalem, and it is continuing with these plans.”
Translation of the deal of the century
For his part, the Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, told Al Jazeera Mubasher, “What is happening in Jerusalem is a translation of the terms of the deal of the century on the ground through the legislation of the occupation and its abuse of our Palestinian people through successive occupation governments that practice the same policies of ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, more abuse and the imposition of a fait accompli in an attempt to Judaizing the city of Jerusalem.”
“But the Palestinian people are facing with their bare chest the occupation army, which is said to be invincible and standing in the face of Israeli arrogance and bullying, and facing challenges with steadfastness and steadfastness.”
