The European Union announced that the remaining parties to the nuclear deal with Iran will meet in Vienna on Wednesday. In turn, the chief negotiator and the Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that “the delegations participating in the Vienna negotiations will return to their capitals for further consultations.”
The statement of the European Union – which is chairing the talks and leading intense diplomatic efforts between Iran and the United States – did not specify when the meeting would start.
Diplomats said that today’s meeting will be held to conclude the latest round of talks in order to revive the agreement, and then the discussions will stop for at least a week.

Negotiations are taking place at a time when the participating parties hope to reach a solution soon in which both the United States and Iran return to commitment to the provisions of the comprehensive plan of action.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that “the nuclear negotiations in Vienna are progressing, and the main issues with Washington have been resolved.”
Rouhani stressed that his government was able to confront the economic war imposed by former US President Donald Trump on his country because it is supported by the Iranian people.
He added, “The current US President Joe Biden announced – during his election campaign months ago – that he intends to return to the nuclear agreement, because he was aware that dialogue was the best way to deal with Iran, after the failure of Trump’s policy of maximum pressure.”
Rouhani said that Trump was calling for negotiations with Iran and “asked one of the leaders of East Asian countries to mediate for dialogue with us, and asked to meet with me more than once.”
Negotiations were recently launched in Vienna to revive the “nuclear agreement” between Iran and the United States, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany, with the aim of returning Washington to the agreement and paving the way for Iran to reverse its evasion of the restrictions imposed on it under the agreement.
And last week, Iran held the fifth round of negotiations for the nuclear agreement with the major powers in the Austrian capital, amid expectations that the United States would return to the agreement again after its withdrawal in May 2018.
