Professor of Middle Eastern Studies Hassan Ahmadian said that the lack of participation rates in the elections is due to the continuation of voting after the extension of the polling time, and to avoid the suspicions that were raised about the percentages in the previous elections.
In his speech to an episode of “Beyond the News” program, he added that the participation rates will be announced after the election results are announced, as happened in the last parliamentary elections, stressing that the call of Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani and presidential candidates for the people to come out for the elections It comes after reports that there is a popular reluctance to participate.

When casting his vote in the presidential elections, on Friday morning, Khamenei reiterated his call to Iranians to participate in the elections, while Rouhani described popular participation and broad participation in the elections, as it would disappoint the enemy.
For his part, Professor of International Conflict Resolution Muhammad Al-Sharqawi said that Rouhani’s talk about the necessity of participation is to avoid announcing the voting percentage, because it shows the difference between the will of the Iranians who want change, and the will of some forces in the higher decision-making centers that want to maintain the same line that Iran followed during the last period.
He added that American media said that the participation rate in the elections did not exceed 23%, which means that 14 million voters out of 59 million participated in the elections. The time for change is not yet ripe.
