Lolwa Al-Khater, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and a spokeswoman for the ministry, affirmed that Doha is open to playing a mediating role between any of the regional powers, whether between Washington and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), or Iran and Saudi Arabia, because of its belief in the importance of mediation for the stability of international peace and security.
Al-Khater said – in an interview with the Russian agency “Sputnik” regarding the possibility of Doha hosting a meeting between Hamas and the US administration – that “the State of Qatar is open to mediation whenever requested to do so, out of its belief in the importance of mediation for international peace and stability.”
On another issue, the Qatari official said that Doha does not see any added value to the peace process from normalization with Israel at the present time, and calls on all international players to review “unconditional support” for Israel, whether financial or political.
Regarding the possibility of hosting Iranian-Saudi talks, the Qatari Foreign Ministry spokeswoman confirmed that “this has not been presented,” adding, “But we welcome this matter, as we have repeatedly stressed that dialogue with Iran is necessary to reach a consensual formula for peaceful coexistence in the region that takes into account the concerns of Gulf and Arab countries.” “.
On another topic, Al-Khater said that the invitation extended to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to visit Doha is open, and a date will be set in cooperation with the Egyptian side.
