South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs are close to reaching the final of the African Champions League, after their 1-0 victory over Moroccan hosts Wydad Casablanca on Saturday in Casablanca.
At Mohammed V Sports Stadium, Serbian striker Samir Norkovic scored the game’s only goal in the 34th minute, with a shot from inside the penalty area after a cross pass, but the referee consulted with the video assistant referee before calculating the goal.
The Kaizer Chiefs will need to win or draw by any result in the return match at home next Friday, to qualify for the final match.
Earlier on Saturday, the defending champion Al-Ahly of Egypt also beat Tunisia’s Esperance 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals.
