The Chinese president called on communist officials and state media to work on building a trustworthy, kind and respectful image of the country, French newspaper Le Point quoted Chinese and foreign media as saying.
In a report, the magazine asked about the plans that Xi Jinking intends to implement to achieve this goal at a time when China’s relations with major world powers are very tense, according to the magazine.
Le Point believed that the “Covid-19” pandemic did not help China to improve its diplomatic relations, but on the contrary, it has renewed in recent days, especially in the United States, the possibility that the source of this virus is an accident in the laboratory, and this is what became clear Beijing was very annoyed with him and went as far as accusing Washington of “political manipulation” and “evasion of responsibilities.”
On the other hand, the magazine said that Xi Jinping’s directing Chinese diplomats to do their best to convey a positive and open image of the country runs counter to the so-called “wolf fighters” strategy.
According to the magazine, this strategy is based on encouraging these diplomats to be fierce, even if it means “spreading false news and discrediting their international opponents (especially on social networks), in order to defend Chinese propaganda against Western political models.”
The magazine concluded that the verbal escalation has already intensified in recent months, especially with the United States, noting that some international observers remain skeptical and await concrete Chinese action before the centenary of the Chinese Communist Party and the upcoming Winter Olympics, which will be held in Beijing in February 2022.
