Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh said that the Palestinian cause has regained its luster and is at the top of the world’s agenda.
Shtayyeh explained – in an interview with Al Jazeera within the “Today’s Meeting” program (7/2021) that the Israeli escalation in Jerusalem and the aggression on the Gaza Strip increased the world’s sympathy with the Palestinian cause in an unprecedented way, noting that the Facebook administration told him In a recent meeting with her, there were 76 million participants via the hashtag (Sheikh Jarrah).
The Palestinian Prime Minister stressed that the Israeli occupation’s aggression against the city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque is still continuing, which prompted the Fatah movement to call for a general mobilization next Thursday.
Shtayyeh accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of trying to complicate all Palestinian files – including the situation in Jerusalem and the Gaza war – for his own benefit; Because of his desire to remain in power after his removal by another Israeli alliance.
Reconciliation and international relations
Regarding the relationship with Washington, Shtayyeh said that the administration of US President Joe Biden is different from the administration of former President Donald Trump, which stifled the Palestinians, he said.
He added that the Palestinian Authority had asked the US administration to remove the name of the Palestine Liberation Organization from the list of sponsors of terrorism.
With regard to Palestinian reconciliation, the Palestinian Prime Minister expressed his hope that the Cairo dialogue would end the state of division between the West Bank and Gaza.
Regarding demands to prosecute Israel, Shtayyeh said that the International Criminal Court will investigate all parties, expressing his hope that the perpetrators of violations against the Palestinian people in Jerusalem and Gaza will be held accountable.
