The Asian double qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 Asian Cup witnessed a decisive round, and Syria joined Japan in qualifying for the third round of the World Cup qualifiers, while Qatar secured qualification for the Asian Cup.
Qatar, which will host the FIFA World Cup next year, qualified for the 2023 Asian Cup finals in China after its 1-0 victory over the Sultanate of Oman in Doha in the fifth group of Asian qualifiers on Monday. Qatar took the lead in the group after raising its tally to 22 points from 8 matches, 10 points ahead of Oman, which played 6 matches, while India is in third place with 6 points from 7 matches, one point ahead of Afghanistan, which played 6 matches.
Bangladesh is bottom of the group with two points from 7 matches.
Captain Hassan Al Haydos scored Qatar’s goal and the only match in the 40th minute from the penalty mark.
Qatar played the match with ten men since the 81st minute after Khouri Boualem was injured and Spanish coach Felix Sanchez exhausted his five substitutions.

Syria qualifies for the final round of the World Cup qualifiers
The Syrian national team qualified for the final round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and booked its place in the 2023 Asian Cup, after its 3-0 victory over Guam in Group A in Sharjah today, Monday.
Syria became the second team to advance to the third round of World Cup qualifiers after Japan, after securing the top spot in Group A, ahead of China, who won 2-0 against the Philippines today as well.
China raised its score to 13 points in second place from 6 matches, compared to 7 points for the Philippines from 6 matches in third place.
Maldives occupies fourth place with six points from 6 matches, and finally Guam without points from 7 matches.
Mardik Mardekian, Jordan’s Al-Faisali striker, scored a double in the first 10 minutes when he put Syria ahead in the sixth minute from a solo situation, and doubled the score with a direct shot from close range three minutes later.
Mahmoud Al-Mawas scored the third goal in the 84th minute from a solo setting to lead his country to the third round of the Asian qualifiers for the second time in a row.

In Osaka, Japan beat Tajikistan 4-1 to continue its perfect record in Group F after achieving its seventh victory in 7 matches, raising its score to 21 points.
Tajikistan is in second place with 10 points from 7 matches, three points ahead of Kyrgyzstan, which played 6 matches.

Iraq regained the top spot in Group C in the double Asian qualifiers, after its 4-1 victory over Cambodia at Bahrain National Stadium on Monday.
Iraq raised its score to 14 points in the lead from 6 matches, compared to 12 points for Iran, which advanced to second place with a goal difference after its 3-0 victory over former leaders Bahrain, which fell to third place with 12 points as well, but it played 7 games.
Hong Kong is in fourth place with five points from 6 matches, and finally Cambodia with one point from 7 matches.
Muhannad Ali put Iraq ahead in the first minute with a creeping ground shot, and Bashar Resan added the second goal in the 23rd minute with a shot from inside the penalty area.
Ali Adnan made the score 3-0 for Iraq with a penalty kick in the 27th minute, while Soyi Visal reduced the difference 10 minutes after the start of the second half.
Safaa Hadi scored the fourth goal for Iraq in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Iran scored 3 goals in the second half, as Sardar Azmoun scored a double in the 54th and 61st minutes, before Mahdi Taremi added the third goal in the 79th minute.

Faisal leads Jordan to second place
Baha Faisal scored a double in Jordan’s 3-0 victory over Nepal in Group B in Kuwait today, Monday.
Jordan raised its score to 13 points from 6 matches in second place in the group, two points behind Australia, which will face Taiwan later today at Jaber International Stadium as well.
Kuwait is in third place with 10 points from 6 matches, 4 points ahead of Nepal, while Taiwan is bottom of the group without points from 6 matches.
Yazan Al-Arab made the score 3-0 for Jordan with a powerful header after Ihsan Haddad’s cross pass in the 67th minute.
The Emirates ended the first half with two goals through Cayo Canedo with a direct shot from inside the penalty area in the 14th minute, and Fabio Lima with a header in the 33rd minute.
Mohamed Gomaa managed to score the third goal with a creeping ground shot after a pass from Mabkhout in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Vietnam maintained its lead in the group with 14 points from 6 matches after its 4-0 victory over Indonesia at Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai, two points ahead of the UAE.
Thailand comes in third place with nine points from 7 matches, then Malaysia with the same balance from 6 matches, and finally Indonesia is at the bottom of the standings with one point from 7 matches.
The next round will be held next Friday, where Indonesia will meet with the UAE, and Malaysia will meet with Vietnam.
The eight group winners, in addition to the four best second-placed teams, qualify for the third round of the double qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
