The Moroccan News Agency said that King Mohammed VI sent a cable of congratulations to Naftali Bennett on his election as prime minister of Israel, while the Justice and Development Party officially announced the visit of a Hamas delegation to Rabat.
In the telegram, the Moroccan King said that he takes this occasion to affirm the keenness of the Kingdom of Morocco to continue what he called its active role and its benevolent endeavors aimed at serving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East that guarantees all the peoples of the region to live side by side, in security, stability and harmony.

Bennett added that “Israel sees Morocco as a friendly country and an important partner in peace and security efforts in the region.”
Morocco was the fourth Arab country to resume relations with Israel late last year under an agreement sponsored by the administration of former US President Donald Trump.
Hamas delegation
For its part, the Moroccan Justice and Development Party (leader of the government coalition) officially announced that the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) will start a visit to the country today, Wednesday.
The party’s statement said that during this visit, discussions will be held between the Hamas delegation and the party leadership on the developments of the Palestinian cause and ways to support it, and the visit will include meetings with other unnamed Moroccan political parties.
Yesterday evening, Tuesday, a source from the Justice and Development Party told Anadolu Agency that Haniyeh would arrive in Rabat on Wednesday for a days-long visit, the first of its kind to the country, in response to an official invitation from the party.
Since the signing of the agreement to normalize relations with Israel, the Moroccan king, who heads the Al-Quds Committee, affirmed the kingdom’s “steadfast position on the Palestinian issue, based on the two-state solution,” stressing that negotiations are the only way to reach a settlement.
