Trapped patients
Yesterday, Friday, the World Health Organization requested access to patients in the Gaza Strip so that they can be evacuated and receive necessary treatment, in light of pressure from medical staff to treat the sick and the wounded after 11 days of fighting.
Fadela Al-Shayeb, spokesperson for the organization in Geneva, said around 600 patients, some with chronic illnesses, had had to be transferred out of the Gaza Strip since the fighting began this month here, but it was not possible due to the closure of the level crossings.
“It is very important that we help the Palestinians get the care they need, especially to help them get treatment outside the Gaza Strip,” she added. p >
The spokesperson indicated that the organization is present on the ground in the area, but she cannot confirm whether it can enter the area at present.
