The Dutch airline “KLM”, in cooperation with researchers from the Dutch University of Technology “Teudelift”, is leading research to produce a unique aircraft with a distinctive design and energy-saving that carries passengers, cargo and fuel tanks in its wing structure.
An episode (6/9/2021) of the “Smart Life” program spotted the future plane “V”, which differs from the rest of the planes in terms of shape and operating mechanism, and researchers were recently able – after a series of experiments – to make the first successful flight of its model. The initial miniature, measuring about 3.2 meters, was controlled by remote control, such as drones.
The speed of the prototype of the aircraft reached 80 kilometers per hour, and the development team of the aircraft spoke about the success of its flight test in cooperation with a team of experts and engineers at an air base in Germany, in cooperation with a specialized team from Airbus in testing the various capabilities of the aircraft, including Takeoff, maneuvering and landing.
The technical team worked on modifying the plane for remote flight, adjusting its center of gravity and thrust from the ground, and the design of the future plane came in the shape of the letter (V); Where the passenger compartments, fuel and luggage are concentrated in the wings, which is about 65 meters long, which gives it a low weight and contributes to reducing fuel consumption by 20% compared to regular aircraft.
What distinguishes the new shape of the plane is to reduce the prices of tickets for travel and obtain a larger space with the same number of seats in the current flight, and the developers say that their plane can be compared to the more advanced plane of the “A350” (A350) in terms of space and length of wings, which makes it easier to use the structure Appropriate infrastructure at airports such as gates and runways.
The innovative plane will also fit into the hangars of the A350 aircraft, as well as it will be able to carry the same number of passengers in “Airbus”, which is about 314 passengers, and the same cargo load of 160 cubic meters, and according to the developers, it is possible to use the most efficient engines in the field of aircraft. Known as a “turbo van”, it consumes less fuel with a kerosene fuel system.
