Kamran Bukhari, director of geopolitical analysis at the “Newlines” Institute for Strategy and Policy in Washington, described the American threat to return to Afghanistan as highly credible and very necessary.
Bukhari expressed his belief in his statements to “Beyond the News” program (12/06/2021) that the country will witness a state of complete chaos in the event of a complete withdrawal of US forces, noting that the Taliban’s ability to control the outskirts of cities is only thanks to the forces. The US, which for several years succeeded in using air strikes and prevented the movement from taking control of key cities.
He
Bukhari accused the Taliban movement of not allowing the Afghan people to determine their own destiny, “but rather wanting to impose a military solution in the country,” noting that America brought its forces to Afghanistan when the movement allowed “terrorists” to strike America, and therefore Washington had the right to be in Afghanistan.
It is noteworthy that the Taliban movement stressed its refusal to keep some foreign forces in Afghanistan under the pretext of securing airports and diplomatic missions, while the United States revealed that it is ready to return to this country if it is attacked.
On the other hand, Muhammad Naim, a spokesman for the Taliban’s political office and a member of the movement’s delegation to the negotiations, stressed that after the withdrawal of foreign forces, no party has the right to interfere in Afghan internal affairs.
Naim said that these forces were in the country, but they were unable to impose their will on the people, stressing that the Afghan issue is an internal affair and has nothing to do with foreign forces.
He also considered that the decision is in the hands of the people, and that they are committed that Afghan lands will not be used against any country, expressing optimism about negotiations that may lead to a result.
It is noteworthy that the Pentagon intelligence official said that US forces have not left Afghanistan yet, and would be ready to return to it if Al-Qaeda or the Islamic State attacked the United States.
In turn, the Taliban warned against any foreign forces remaining in Afghanistan, saying they would be considered occupying forces.
