US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas Greenfield said that Washington is seeking to win additional international support for Gaza and its reconstruction.
Greenfield indicated – during an interview with the “Today’s Meeting” program (5/6/2021) – that the Security Council is closely following the situation in Gaza, and expressed her satisfaction with the steadfastness of the ceasefire.
The US delegate explained that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken visited the region last week and met with Israeli and Palestinian leaders, as well as Egypt and Jordan, and one of the main objectives of his visit was to work to win additional international support for Gaza and its reconstruction, providing humanitarian aid, and reaching a political settlement.
Regarding her recent visit to the Bab al-Hawa border crossing between Syria and Turkey, the US ambassador to the United Nations said that she met with UN officials, international observers, refugees and workers within the “White Hats” relief teams; To determine the arrival of aid to the Syrian people, stressing the need for continued aid to refugees.
She added that she intends to communicate with her Russian counterpart to work together to keep the Bab al-Hawa crossing open, and to facilitate the arrival of aid to refugees through the United Nations and relief agencies.
