The US Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, is visiting Saudi Arabia to consult with officials from the Yemeni and Saudi governments, while the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths told the UN Security Council on Tuesday that the Yemeni parties are “unable” to overcome their differences.
The US State Department said that “the US special envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, will visit Saudi Arabia from the fifteenth to the seventeenth of this month, and he will meet with senior officials from the governments of Yemen and Saudi Arabia, in addition to the United Nations special envoy, Martin Griffiths.”
She added that Special Envoy Lenderking will discuss the latest efforts to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire, which is the only way to provide relief to Yemenis who need it most.
She
explained that the United States welcomes the efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman to support peace in Yemen, and acknowledges Saudi Arabia’s efforts to push for the implementation of the contents of the Riyadh Agreement.
